Parents and Families

At Istrouma, we feel honored to partner with parents and we're constantly looking for ways to strengthen the family.  It's our desire to provide parents with resources that will assist them in the most important job of all:  raising children who love the Lord!  Today's families are under attack from all directions, so keeping families equipped is more important than ever before.

• Lifeway's Levels of Biblical Learning Chart Free Download!
  This resource from Lifeway breaks down essential biblical truths and stories, and provides guidance on how to communicate those truths with different age groups, from babies through 6th grade.  Click here for a free download.
• Lifeway's Levels of Biblical Skills Chart Free Download!
  It's sometimes difficult to know how to explain biblical concepts to young children.  Click here for a great resource from Lifeway that helps parents and leaders know which biblical concepts children are able to understand at various stages of development.  Also includes ideas for using the Bible with children and preschoolers and how to make the connection between church and home.  
• Focus On The Family
  Focus On The Family is Dr. James Dobson's site devoted to the health of families.  You'll find articles on important topics such as discipline, teaching values, discussing tough topics with your children, and more. 
• Focus On Your Child
  Focus On The Family also offers free membership in Focus On Your Child, which offers periodic newsletters and other resources for families.  Specify the ages of your children, and you'll receive information tailored for that age group.  Click here for their site.
• Plugged In Online
  As parents, it is our responsibility to monitor what our children read, watch, and listen to.  Plugged In Online provides music, dvd, and movie reviews from a Christian perspective, and is a great tool for parents and grandparents.
