Ministries

Angel Ministry
Every month ladies from the Istrouma Women’s Angel Ministry (IAm) gather to cut, sew, stuff, and glue together special Angel Dolls.  Each angel is different and unique; much like each person who has been selected to receive one is also divinely unique.  The Angels Dolls are not for sale.  They are a way of reaching out with encouragement, and bringing a gentle reminder of God’s unfailing love for His people.

Book Club
The Istrouma Women’s Book Club was organized on the foundation of
I Thessalonians 5:11 which says, “Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.”
Our purpose is to read and discuss Christian books while forming friendships and closely bonding with other Christian ladies.

MomTime

MomTime provides a fun support group, spiritually grounded in fellowship, favors, practical insights for raising children, and guidance from the Word of God in maturing as a godly wife and/or mother.

Prison Ministry
“I never in a million years dreamed I would ever go to a prison.  But I volunteer every week, and it is something I look forward to. These ladies are forced by their circumstances to really live their faith.  I have learned so much from them about how to live your faith and REALLY depend on God for everything.”
                                                                               --Becky Thompson

The next training for participation in our Prison Ministry is at 6pm, Saturday, August 23rd at the Catholic Life Center on North Acadian Thruway or at 8am, Saturday, October 18th at South Baton Rouge Church of Christ, 8725 Jefferson Hwy.

This training is required by the Louisiana Department of Corrections before one may be cleared for admission into the prison facility for ministry.

Woman-to-Woman Mentoring Ministry
A mentor is defined as wise and trusted counselor.  Mentoring means using the wisdom that comes from life’s experiences to help others who are encountering similar experiences in their lives.  Christian mentors share how God guides and supports, counsels and consoles, in both good and bad times.

We want to provide a safe environment where women can encourage one another, cry with one another, pray with one another, love one another, and challenge one another through a one on one mentoring relationship.

Come join us as a mentor or a mentee…someone needs YOU!
