Istrouma partners with many other churches in Crowd Ministry. To draw a crowd, our team often plays a trivia game with cash prizes. Once the crowd grows large enough, someone will emerge as louder than the rest of the crowd. At this year's Fourth of July Celebration, it was a woman who was offered a $20 bill if she could pass the "Good Person" test. IBC member Chris Fontenot guided her through 4 of the 10 commandments and she admitted to being a liar, a thief, a blasphemer, and an adulterer at heart. With that, Chris began to share with the crowd the utter depravity that we all share in comparison to the holiness of Almighty God and how He demands perfection...a perfection we are incapable of on our own. Gently informing the crowd how God is just and He will not clear the guilty and how our conscience tells us we are all guilty before Him, Chris shared the Good News. When Chris finished, in an effort to demonstrate the grace of God, though she did not pass the "Good Person" test, we gave her the $20 anyway. Interestingly enough, a man in the crowd approached our group and gave us another $20 bill and asked us to do it again. As we only had about eight "ones," God in His great mercy and grace supplied us with another opportunity to draw another crowd. Later that evening, as you all know, two innocent people were wounded by gunfire. We never know when the persons next to us in a supermarket line or passing us in the mall or sitting next to us at work are going to breathe their last breath. What happens to their soul if they die without Christ?
If you would like to publicly share the salvation offered to us through the Atoning suffering, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, please contact Chris Fontenot at 225.806.8157 or email me @ christopherf3@yahoo.com.
