Interim Pastor Thomas Hammond will speak on August 22, and begin his interim speaking schedule on September 12. 

Update to the Church
July 7, 2010  
Following are three important matters of interest to Istrouma members related to our current interim situation and senior pastor search. Please read and respond prayerfully to each one.  

Interim Preaching Pastor   The Interim Leadership Team prayerfully recommends that our church extend a call to Reverend Thomas Hammond to be Interim Preaching Pastor at Istrouma. Members will be asked to affirm the recommendation during both services this Sunday, July 11th.   The Interim Leadership Team received very favorable responses from members who heard Reverend Hammond preach in our services June 27th. Reverend Hammond will complete an interim assignment at another SBC church in Georgia within the next few weeks and be available to begin this ministry with us in late August or early September.  
Thomas Hammond presently serves on the staff of the North American Mission Board as Senior Director of the Church Evangelism Division in the Evangelism Group. Prior to this, he served as Director of Missions for the Metrolina Baptist Association in Charlotte, North Carolina. He has served as Director of the Direct Evangelism Team at NAMB, as Minister of Evangelism at Hebron Baptist Church, Dacula, Georgia, and at the Ohio Baptist Convention as an associate in the Evangelism Department. Prior to that, Thomas served as a chaplain for the Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) in Memphis, Tennessee. He is a graduate of Augusta State University, Augusta, Georgia and Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary, Germantown, Tennessee. He and his wife, Kerri, have two children: Katie and Karley.  

Senior Pastor Search Team Nominations   Members are encouraged to submit names of individuals they feel would serve faithfully and effectively on the Senior Pastor Search Team. This team will be commissioned soon by our church family.  Click here to download a Nomination Form for this purpose which contains more information and instructions. Please note that all nominations must be made via this form and submitted by August 1, 2010.  

All-Church Prayer Call   July 25th, 6:00-7:30pm   The most important thing our church will do during this time as we search for a new senior pastor is pray!  On the above date we are calling on all our members to meet en masse and seek God’s leadership during this critical period in our church history.  Please mark this event now on your calendar and join other members petitioning God’s mercy and leadership among us.
